Ian Mulheirn was appointed Director of the Social Market Foundation in October 2008. He joined the Social Market Foundation as the Chief Economist in February 2008, after three years as an economic advisor at HM Treasury.

Rachel Baker - Conference and Events Manager
Rachel joined the SMF in February 2010 as the Conference Manager. She has a strong track record in delivering large events for a number of public sector organisations and professional bodies.
Alice Bruegger - Events and Communications intern
Alice joined the SMF in January 2012 as Events and Communications intern. She recently gained a degree in Philosophy from University College London and worked for a Risk Consultancy before joining the Social Market Foundation.
Dr Nigel Keohane - Deputy Director
Nigel Keohane is Deputy Director at the Social Market Foundation, having joined in summer 2011. Previously he was Head of Research at the New Local Government Network where he was responsible for NLGN's research programme and policy development.
Hazel Maxwell - Research Intern
Hazel joined the Social Market Foundation in January 2012. She has a degree in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Manchester where she took a particular interest in political philosophy and completed her dissertation on the morality of the market.
Leonora Merry - Head of Media and External Affairs
Leonora Merry joined the SMF in February 2011 as Head of Media and External Affairs. She has over seven years' experience in communications and public affairs, most recently as Communications Officer at family lawyers' association Resolution and previously in the voluntary sector in Scotland.
John Springford - Senior Researcher
John Springford is a Senior Researcher at the Social Market Foundation. Previously he was a researcher at CentreForum, where he wrote a series of papers on the financial and fiscal crises.
Ryan Shorthouse - Researcher
Ryan is a Researcher for the SMF with expertise in social policy, including early years, education and welfare. He was previously a researcher for Rt Hon David Willetts MP, where he authored the Conservative Party's Childhood Review.
Bianca Smith - Finance Manager
Bianca joined the SMF in February 2010 as the Finance Manager. She has over 20 years experience in finance, having worked in a number of Chartered Accountant firms in South Africa.
