Chalk + Talk with Professor Anna Vignoles

Learning to earn? Appraising the UK’s human capital policy

Human capital is criticial to economic success. Certainly it is the case that countries with a more skilled workforce have higher levels of economic growth. The critical question however, is how one can design an education and training system that delivers these higher levels of skill? Anna Vignoles will consider how the UK compares to other countries, both in terms of the level of skill of its workforce and in the distribution of skill across the workforce. She will then discuss ways in which education and training policy might be reformed to improve the skills of the UK workforce and hence contribute to future economic growth.
