There are strong reasons for worrying about the behaviour and culture of the British financial sector. Short-termism, poor risk management and a lack of strong corporate governance have all been identified as sources of the financial crisis and continue to cause concern about the stability of the UK’s economic recovery.
The Social Market Foundation is launching a new report on the importance of good culture in financial services firms, how diversity of ownership can encourage it and whether banks, building societies and insurers can be encouraged to compete on the basis of behaviour.

The launch event will explore the report’s recommendations on how we can encourage financial services companies to develop resilient corporate cultures and improve behaviour across the sector.
