The first SMF keynote of the 2009 party conference season took place at the Liberal Democrat party conference in Bournemouth and featured Giles Wilkes of Centre Forum, Dr Vince Cable and Michael White of The Guardian at a meeting chaired by SMF Director Ian Mulheirn titled 'Britain's Economic Future: Where now for the state and the market?'
Our Labour party conference keynote event, was a discussion between Lord Mandelson, SMF Director Ian Mulheirn and Marton Kettle of The Guardian under the title 'Britain's Economic Future'. The event gave a packed room an opportunity to pose questions to the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
At the Conservative conference a week later the keynote debate, titled 'Finding the Path to Economic Recovery' featured contributions from Oliver Letwin MP, Teresa May MP, Brendan Barber of the TUC and Conservative parliamentary candidate Margot James.
