7th August 2008: Immediate Release

SMF Director to Leave for New Role

Ann Rossiter, Director of the Social Market Foundation, has today announced that she is to leave the organisation at the end of August to take up post as Special Advisor to Rt. Hon. John Denham MP, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills.  Rossiter has spent five years with the SMF, the last three as Director.

Commenting Ann Rossiter said

“My five years at the SMF have been tremendously rewarding.  I have worked with a fantastic group of staff and the success of the organisation is very much down to them.  I believe that social market ideals remain the right ones for this country and wish the organisation every success in the future.”

Lord Lipsey, Chair of the Social Market Foundation, said:

“We are sorry to lose Ann.  Her period as Director has further enhanced the SMF’s reputation as one of the leading Westminster think tanks.  The organisation’s research has greatly benefited from the intellectual rigour and evidence based focus that she brought to it.  During her time as Director the SMF has seen an increase in staffing and a 25% rise in income.  It is a record of which she can be proud and one the organisation can build on.”
