Implementing the 10-Year Childcare Strategy

In 2005, the Social Market Foundation, in partnership with Bright Horizons Family Solutions, hosted two seminars exploring the implications of the government’s 10 Year Strategy for childcare in the UK.

The first seminar examined the capacity of local authorities to play a market management role, while the second focussed on the extent to which government could make better use of the innovative capacity of the private sector in meeting its childcare objectives.

Key speakers included Naomi Einsenstadt, DfES, David Walker, the Guardian, Ray Shostak, HM Treasury, and Susan Hay, Bright Horizons Family Solutions.

This publication summarises the discussions which took place, representing an important contribution to the ongoing discussions around the Strategy.
