Speakers: Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister for Universities and Science
Chair: Ian Mulheirn, Director, Social Market Foundation
Before the General Election in 2010, David Willetts MP provoked lively debate with the publications of his book, The Pinch: how the baby boomers stole their children’s future. In it he argued that young people today are finding it more difficult than their parents to get on in life: house prices remain high; youth unemployment is at record levels; and social mobility appears to have stagnated.
With the launch of the paperback version of his book, the Conservative cabinet minister will discuss the difficulties young people face today and what Government policy is doing to bridge the intergenerational divide.
