Scott Corfe joins the SMF as our new chief economist

Scott Corfe joins the SMF today as our new chief economist.

Previously, Scott was Head of Macroeconomics and a Director at the economics consultancy Cebr, where he led much of the consultancy’s thought leadership and public policy research. His expert insights are frequently sought after in publications including the Financial Times, the Sunday Times, the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph. Scott has appeared on BBC News, Sky News, Radio 4 and a range of other broadcast media.

Scott was voted one of the top three forecasters of UK GDP by Focus Economics in 2016.

James Kirkup, director of the SMF, said:

“Today is the first day at work for Scott Corfe, our brilliant new Chief Economist. Scott joins us from the Centre for Economics and Business Research, where he was head of macroeconomics.

“He’s already hard at work on a couple of SMF projects aimed at developing new ideas to make markets work better for the people in them, and will, I’m sure, soon become a star of the think-tank world.”
