This events will explore the implications of the recent public health white paper on sexual health outcomes in the UK. The Social Market Foundation has long been an advocate of outcome-based commissioning to drive up standards of provision in a range of policy areas, including offender rehabilitation and welfare-to-work. We wish to explore whether Government plans for greater local authority control of public health budgets, which remain shockingly poor in the UK compared to the rest of Europe, will lead to improvements in sexual health outcomes. An essential part of the proposals involves paying local authorities a health premium for the results they achieve against a new public health outcomes framework.
This public seminar will be an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the implications of the Government’s proposals for improving sexual health outcomes, and how the new approach can be made to work.
